Day 1 KIGALI
You are personally met upon arrival at airport and transfer to Kigali for a briefing on your safari.Diner and overnight at Flame Tree Village.
Day 2 KIGALI-PNV
After breakfast, depart for PNV. The journey North of the country goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterizes much of Rwanda 's landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the Virungavolcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible.After check in, we drive to Lake Kivu to observe the best views of Rwanda and a boat cruise inside the lake. Day 3 PNV
Head for gorilla tracking in Parc National des Volcans (subject to permit availability at the time of booking). Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is aware some experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. Overnight: Mt Gorilla View Lodge (FB)
Day 4 PVN-KISORO
Today visit the golden monkeys . After lunch transfer to Uganda [Adjust the clock forward one hour]. Time permitting go for a walk near Mount Gahinga . Overnight: Kisoro travelers Rest Hotel (FB)
Day 5 KISORO
After breakfast, you go for a one day hike of Mount Gahinga .It takes around six hours to ascend and descend Mt. Gahinga (3,474m), topped by a swamp-filled crater and giant lobelia. Lucky climbers may spot golden monkeys on their way through the bamboo forest.Dinner and overnight at Travellers Rest Hotel Kisoro .(FB)
Day 6 KISORO - Nkuringo
Drive to Nkuringo through the Switzerland of Africa, with the road winding through many hills and valleys. Time permitting go for a guided nature walk in the thick forest rich in birds, butterflies and monkeys. Alternatively go for a cultural visit of the nearby local communities and share the way of life and living. Overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge (FB)
Day 7 Nkuringo
Second Gorilla trek - Up relatively early for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla trekking. Report to the ranger station at 8.00am, from where the guides will take you through the bush, slashing at the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (A reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking/hiking shoes). Sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male - the silverback. Amazing to think that there are only 650 or so of these creatures left in the world! Overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge (FB)
Day 8 BWINDI-KIGALI
Early depature for Kigali in Rwanda via Kabale [Adjust the clock backward one hour]. Time permitting; go for a tour of the city including a visit to the market, a pottery project, handicraft shops, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre and the genocide memorial. Transfer to the airport (HB). End of Services
